Duct wrap
We mist the wrap on supply and return runs, cut it free in short pieces and drop each piece straight into a bag.

Before a new furnace goes in, check what is wrapped around the old one. White duct wrap, seam tape and furnace or pipe insulation are all named by MDH as possible asbestos materials in homes. Once a lab confirms it, our crew strips the positive material so the heating contractor can do the swap.
The state measures what your project will disturb, and it counts each project on its own. More than 10 linear feet of friable pipe insulation makes it licensed work, and so does more than 6 square feet on a duct, a plenum or the furnace itself. We test first and price from the lab result in Apple Valley, Rosemount or Empire.

We mist the wrap on supply and return runs, cut it free in short pieces and drop each piece straight into a bag.
The tape sealing duct joints and register boots is a separate material. We test it on its own before deciding how it comes off.
Homes with hot-water heat or a boiler can have wrapped pipes too. We remove pipe insulation in the same sealed work area.
Swapping a furnace may touch only a short run of wrap. Falling under the state limits takes a job out of regulation, not out of risk, and MDH’s booklet recommends licensed removal either way.
Duct work is easiest when it is timed with the furnace job.
Tell us when the new furnace is booked. We finish and clear the work area first, so the installer starts on clean ductwork.
If the furnace has to be off while we work, we agree on the timing with you so the house is without heat no longer than needed.
Nobody takes the plastic down on a guess. A clearance air test has to pass first, and a copy of those results is part of the paperwork you keep.
